“Pay attention to spaces in yourselves where you are holding onto something tightly, maybe fear or trepidation about this conversation or its outcomes. Spend time exploring your expectations, whether its things that you look forward to or outcomes you fear. Release those things to the Spirit who is present here with us, and to one another.” Click here for the narrative minutes from our quarterly gathering at Camas Friends on Saturday, February 17, 2018.
A form of the bylaws for Sierra-Cascades Yearly Meeting of Friends was approved on Saturday, February 17, and is now available online. The bylaws subcommittee will continue to work on a membership application between now and annual sessions. Other concerns can be brought to the bylaws subcommittee any time between now and annual sessions. Click here to view the bylaws in their approved form. Reply to this email – – with comments or concerns regarding the bylaws, and those emails will be forwarded to members of the bylaws subcommittee.
Transfer of Recording
A process for transfer of recordings is available on the website, and all people who have existing recordings or licenses in Friends churches may transfer their recording, including any interested in joining us from the Western Association of the Religious Society of Friends. We also will reinstate the recordings of those who gave them up in NWYM because of the circumstances of their disagreeing with Faith and Practice and its enforcement.

The recordings that will be transferred will take effect on the official day of the restructure, which is set for June 30, 2018. It is the recommendation of the task force that the annual sessions we will hold in May will include a celebration of those transferring their recordings. Click here for an outline of the transfer process.

A proposed process for recording is also available on the website and a method for offering feedback to the task force will be in place by the second week of March. Click here for the proposed process for recording.

FCNL Priorities Process
For 75 years Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) has brought the concerns of Friends in U.S. Quaker meetings and churches directly to our senators and representatives in Washington, D.C.  FCNL lobbyists are guided by the results of a priorities discernment process where Friends nationwide express their concerns about federal policy.  FCNL is inviting Friends throughout the U.S. to participate in this priorities process, determining the issues FCNL will work to impact in the 116th Congress (2019-2020).

The priorities process will continue until April 13th, the deadline to submit the results of your meeting’s discernment process. Maurice Warner and Dove John will make themselves available in person up until Sunday, April 1, and will help with phone and email guidance up until Friday, April 13th. Maurice and Dove can visit meetings to explain what FCNL does, to let them know how to get involved beyond the priorities process and how such involvement can benefit local meetings all year long.

Feel free to contact them:
