Pendle Hill Seeks Executive Director

A Quaker study, retreat, and conference center, Pendle Hill is the largest retreat center in the United States under the direction of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).  Founded in 1930 and located 10 miles from Philadelphia airport on 24 green acres, Pendle Hill sponsors dozens of spiritual and educational programs each year and also provides conference facilities for many others.

We are looking for someone with organizational capability who can provide spirit-led leadership and exemplify the values and practices of the Religious Society of Friends. On Pendle Hill’s website you can see the full job description and further materials of interest.

We are especially eager to learn of possible candidates from under-represented groups to whom we should give full and careful consideration.

Those who may be interested should submit a current resume; contact information for three references, and a cover letter to executivedirectorsearch@pendlehill.org. Please put “Executive Director” and the applicant's last name in the email subject line.

American Friends Service Committee

A corporation meeting will be held April 16–18, 2020, at Friends Center in Philadelphia, PA, and we are invited to send two observers. Let the clerks know if you are interested in representing Sierra-Cascades Yearly Meeting of Friends there, and helping us discern whether we feel called to join American Friends Service Committee.

A snail winds
Her own home
From what she encounters
On the way

Coils from the earth
A shell of stone
Safety for her softness
Ever larger at the edges

If she traveled faster
She might miss
The gifts that came her way
It takes time to transform
Dust into shelter
