Common Table Survey

From Joe Snyder, Multnomah Monthly Meeting: I am writing to you all as representatives of various Quaker meetings, churches and worship groups in Oregon.

There is a nascent group formed in Oregon called the Common Table, operating through EMO, but not exactly part of it.  It is a collection of religious leaders from many, many faith traditions dedicated to building on our commonalities which are far greater than our differences. We are Muslims, Jews, Sikhs, Christians (Catholic, Evangelical, Mainline Protestant, Mormon and more) Buddhists, Native Americans and more. This is a hopeful antidote to the polarization and division that afflicts us. We also hope to make a difference in the public sphere. As a beginning, we are trying to build a picture of the work faith communities of all kinds are doing for those marginalized in our society. This begins with a survey on work being done feeding the hungry and housing the houseless. Please go to the following survey and indicate what your community is doing to address these issues, not matter how small or insignificant it may seem. It will take only a little over 5 minutes to complete and will be a great blessing going forward. You can also find a little more about the Common Table.

Also, please share this with other churches or faith communities with whom you are in contact. This is going out through many denominational channels, but certainly will not get everywhere, so the more awareness raised, the better.

Adoration is a bone and gut event;
It clutches you, so the knee
     is forced to bend.
It grabs you by the throat; you cannot speak.
All that is left to you is worship.
