Winter Quarterly Gathering

SCYMF Winter Quarterly Gathering

Saturday, March 7, 2026 • In person (Camas Friends Church, WA) + Zoom

Coming up Saturday! Join your Friends from SCYMF at the Winter Quarterly Gathering on Saturday, March 7, 2026. We will meet in person at Camas Friends Church in Camas, Washington, and also on Zoom.

“SCYMF” stands for Sierra-Cascades Yearly Meeting of Friends, which is the broader community of Friends meetings we call home. SCYMF gatherings are an opportunity to meet with and get to know Friends from like-minded meetings in Washington, Oregon, California, and Idaho. Hear how Quakers in places like Camas and Olympia and Klamath Falls live out their commitments to inclusion, justice, and peace.

There will be a program for kids during the day (except for lunchtime) with crafts and fun activities.

Workshop Descriptions

C. Wess Daniels

1) Endless Revolution — The Lamb's War and Framing Quaker Relationships to Empire Today

In this workshop, we will explore the political and theological context of both the early Church and Early Friends, and explore the Book of Revelation as a basis for understanding their relationship to empire and “the Lamb's War.” We will look at what, if anything, the Lamb's War has to do with Friends today and consider practices of resistance that may be meaningful as we consider our own relationship to the American Empire.

C. Wess Daniels is the William R. Rogers Director of Friends Center and Quaker Studies at Guilford College. Wess is an author and a recorded Quaker minister committed to liberation theology, anti-imperial expressions of Christianity, and revitalising faith traditions that embody love and justice in our communities around the world.

In-person only.

Traci Hjelt Sullivan

2) Money — The Spiritual is not separate from the Practical

When you think about the practical realities of money in your life, what feelings or images come up? Do those same things surface when you reflect on how Spirit shapes your relationship with money? In this Right Sharing of World Resources workshop, Traci Hjelt Sullivan, Executive Director, will help us explore where these experiences overlap and where they differ, through guided conversation about how we use money and the spiritual traditions and writings that inform our lives.

Right Sharing of World Resources, founded in 1967 by FWCC, facilitates educational opportunities to learn about our global connections to one another, and provides micro-enterprise grants to women's groups in Guatemala, India, Kenya, and Sierra Leone.

Available in person and via Zoom (with registration).

Forest-Bathing Excursion (Optional)

Meet at 1:10 p.m. outside under the awning (near the main meeting room entrance) to walk to the Lacamas Creek Trail. Expect a few short but steep-ish hills and potential mud (depending on the weather).
